Smooth and powerful ride:

The QuadSport Z400 starts with the push of a button. Powered by a 398cc liquid-cooled four-stroke single cylinder DOHC engine with electronically fuel-injected (EFI) system, the vehicle starts quickly in no time at any altitude or temperature.

This powerplant comes paired with a reliable five-speed transmission, which can be operated just by an easy-pull clutch lever. This vehicle runs on rear wheel drive system. Along with slick gearbox, the Z400 also comes with reverse that is certainly a great asset on the tighter trails. ATV can achieve the top speed of 50+, which again is not impressive at all. However, it will at least give you some power to run on road in a hurry.

The complete range of QuadSport Z400 ATVs is equipped with fuel injection system that provides smooth delivery of the power. On longer rides, the throttle is very obvious. Also, the response of the throttle is amazing. The initial three gears deliver amazing amount of torque and smooth transition through the fifth gear.

Suspension, handling and ride quality:

The QuadSport offers good quality ride. ATV is incorporated with double A-arm suspension with 8.5-inch wheel travel. At the rear, the machine is fitted with aluminum swingarm and linkage-type suspension offering 9.1 inches of wheel travel.

The Z400 offers precision on most of the terrains. The suspension absorbs most of the bumps and jumps on almost every kind of terrain. However, sometimes you can feel the rough obstacles through the suspension, albeit it isn’t too harsh. With even over 400 pounds weight, the Z400 still manages to maneuver all day long smoothly with ease. Thus, handling this machine becomes very easy.

ATV stands on the lightweight aluminum wheels coated with tough and well built tires. The tires has strong grip making it easy for the rider to keep control over the ATV.

The Z400 has braking power that suite the chassis very well. ATV has 6.9-inch discs in the front and an 8.6-inch single disc in the rear. The brakes are amazing and offer maximum traction on downhill rides. This sport machine has responsive and firm braking, which give a good feel whenever you hit the brakes.

Comfort and other features:
The vehicle offers decent ergonomics making it more comfortable to ride and feel firm for the aggressive rider. The machine comes equipped with a comfortable T-design seat, the extra-wide 46mm footpegs and the center-mounted handlebar dash, etc. The front fenders are slightly moved ahead to offer plenty of legroom to the Z400 rider. Also, the extra-wide 46mm footpegs offer stability and implanted ride even while cornering. The dash sports neutral, fuel gauge, indicator lights for reverse and engine temp warning.

The QuadSport is available in Suzuki as an all-white version and the new teal/greenish colorways for the 2012 model year. This machine is available for $7,099.

In short, the 2012 Suzuki QuadSport is a good machine on most of the trails, despite its lack of high performance.

Red versions of the Yamaha utility ATV models are expected to hit the dealers’ showrooms by the end of the year. This line-up from the professional manufacturer of ATVs will include the Grizzly 450 EPS, Grizzly 550 FI EPS and Grizzly 700 FI EPS.

“Yamaha has strong demand from a variety of customer groups – including farmers and recreational users alike – for the red utility models, and we’ve seen our dealer partners ask for them this fall,” said Steve Nessl, Marketing Manager at the Yamaha ATV/SxS group. Nessl also said, “All of Yamaha’s 4×4 ATVs now come from its U.S. manufacturing facility in Georgia, which allows the company to respond more quickly to customer demands while also streamlining distribution. It’s exciting to see that process in place.”

All the Grizzly 4×4 ATVs and Rhino Side-by-Side vehicles of Yamaha are rolled out from the Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America (YMMC) in Newnan, Ga.

Bill Shorten, Workplace Relations Minister, announced that anyone below 16 years would not be allowed to operate an adult sized quad bike on farms and workplaces. This is because many young children have been crushed by the adult brutal machines over the past few years. It has been noted that the young children in the farm tow the goods using their electric ATV winch or traditionally large ATV from one location to the other. While they do so, they don’t take care of their safety and meet with accidents finally giving away their lives. However, Minister Shorten didn’t get the idea behind forcing the quad ATV manufacturers to install prevention bars as standard features for avoiding crush and improving the safety of the quad bikes.

The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries has confirmed that the roll-bar reforms would not happen. Notably, Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries has earlier campaigned for about 6 months to prevent roll bar reforms from happening. Chief executive Tony Weber said that the roll bars would be causing more severe injuries and deaths instead of preventing rider from injuries. “In all good conscience we simply cannot agree to putting (the devices) on to vehicles which were never designed to have them fitted and could cause the rider injury,” he added.

However, the claims of the Chamber that the roll bars are dangerous have been constantly dismissed by the safety researchers, engineers, farming groups and emergency services. Many of the critics claim that the automotive industry is against the bars because it would be an added cost, which may cause a dip in sales. In addition to this, it would be an acknowledgement that they have been rolling out the products that were unsafe.

A review conducted by the Institute for Safety, Compensation and Recovery Research this year found out that the protection devices on quad bikes against crush are capable enough to bring down the injuries and fatalities figures. The review also revealed that the opponents of the rollbar relied on – flawed methodologies and assumptions. Minister Shorten said that the government believe the manufacturers would voluntarily improve the safety features.

Since 2000, around 170 people became the victims of the unsafe ATVs and lost their lives in accidents. The leading cause of deaths on the Australian farms is the quad bikes, whereas the deaths due to rollovers are just half as compared to those without rollover.

“If there was legislation backing up the view that us and others may have, that would be of assistance,” said Egon Schwidder, a business and workplace advisor. “But it still doesn’t take away the obligation of an employer to make sure they provide a safe workplace and safe equipment.”

The most dangerous industry of Australia after road transport is agriculture. Therefore, the National Farmers Federation supports the crush protection devices.

The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries is supporting the wearing of helmets as compulsory preventive measure. Also, it is backing the prohibition of operating adult-sized quad bikes by the children below 16 years of age. “An adult-sized ATV is not a toy and children under 16 shouldn’t be using them,” Weber added. It is to be noted that fifteen people died, including a 5 years old girl, due to quad bike accidents this year.

Performance: This ATV or mud riders is powered by a revised 650cc liquid-cooled Rotax V-Twin powerplant capable of churning out 62 hp of power. The radiator is placed in place of the front rack concealed in protective cover to offer about 22 kW of cooling capacity, remaining out of the mud’s reach. The Outlander has fuel capacity of 5.4 gallons to offer longer rides.

Handling: The Outlander 650 X mr comes equipped with the industry-exclusive Surrounding Spar Technology (SST) G2 frame to offer better strength, lower center of gravity and better handling. The ATV incorporates dual A-arm suspension with dive-control and anti-kick geometry in the front and trophy trucks-inspired Torsional Trailing arm independent at the rear to offer bumper free ride.

This new Outlander boasts Dynamic Power Steering system (DPS), which comes with three separate steering assistance levels namely Minimum, Medium or Maximum. DPS offers variable steering assistance, irrespective of the mode you selected. Also, the ATV comes with Visco-Lok QE, an auto-locking front differential, which transfers power from slipping front wheel to gripping wheel with the push of a button. This feature can completely lock the wheel with no rev or speed limiter. Moreover, the ATV is fitted with ventilated hydraulic disc brakes for stopping. The 12 inches cast aluminium wheels is covered with the 28-inches Maxxis Mudzilla tires to offer extraordinary mud-friendly traits.

 Design: The 2013 Outlander 650 X mr ATV model features cutting-edge and aggressive look. The special graphics and X package colour scheme makes it look unique amongst the other ATVs. ATV has a strong rear rack capable of holding 200 pounds of cargo. The compartment at the rear is a storage box capable of holding 5.7-gallon of cargo. The ATV has a towing capacity of 1,300 lbs.

ATV has a well built front bumper, industry-leading 230-watt headlights, dual taillights, a more-powerful magneto, auxiliary lights, winch, high strength skid plate, multifunction digital gauge, aluminium foot pegs and onboard sound system.

With 1.75-inch tread depth, this monster tire is claimed to offer smooth and aggressive approach on harder and rough surfaces. Also, ITP claims that the Monster Mayhem tire is a lightweight 6-ply carcass offering extraordinary acceleration, drivability and stopping. The tire bears extreme stamina with distinctive and embossed marking on its flanks.

This fierce Monster Mayhem tire is available in two sizes – 30×9-14 front and 30×9-14 rear. This most aggressive tire from the ITP was built in the United States.

The best part of the Maverick is its performance. The 976cc Rotax V-Twin can churn out maximum of 101 horsepower. Also, the BRP claims that the Can-Am Maverick has the best in class torque in the ATV industry. Moreover, the head on its engine has larger intake and exhaust valves and impressive compression ratio of 12:1. The engine is mated to CVT transmission. The high flow dynamics and new dual exhaust has added more power to the side-by-side ATV.

Maverick has actually gained 13 hp of power over its competition. However, it isn’t noticeable on riding it. Contrary to this, the XP 900 generates great power on pressing the pedal. The Maverick is not able to generate that throttle may be because of the clutching and EFI system. However, it is not clear at. The similar problem is with the torque, which is not noticeable. Despite this, it is certain that this machine develops full torque at the higher rpm ranges. May be, it isn’t too noticeable.

Well, all this doesn’t mean that the 976cc engine of the Maverick isn’t tough enough to run well. It serves its purpose well.

On the drivability, it is to be noted that the Maverick has 0.5 inches longer suspension travel than the RZR XP 900. With the suspension, the ATV incorporates effective shock package with the FOX Podium RC 2.5 shocks. This combination enables the 2013 Can-Am Maverick to manoeuvre smoothly across various trails effectively. The suspensions are capable of handling full throttle runs through the rough terrains. The front of the Maverick is equipped with A-arm suspension with 14 inches of travel and the rear of the ATV was fitted with new Torsional Trailing Arm with 14 inches of travel. These larger shocks are used in the Maverick X rs models, one of which we got to test our driving skills. The base models have 2.0 inches shock. The large shocks enable the better handling even on highly intense conditions or extremely rough terrains. On top of this, the Maverick offers 13 inches of ground clearance for offering better ride quality over the rocks and uncertain lands. One of the problems that one may encounter on starting the Maverick is the gradual spinning of the motor by the battery. This, however, isn’t too big trouble.

The cockpit of the 2013 Can-Am Maverick is almost similar to that of the Commander. And that is actually good about this ATV, mainly because it fits most of the riders and others well. The seats of the vehicle are super comfortable. The tilt steering wheel and removable feature of the seats for using them as lawn chairs add more beauty to the interior of the ATV.

All in all, 2013 Can-Am Maverick is a competitive machine that can give its rivals a run for their money. With the entry of Maverick, the circle of powerful side-by-side ATVs got a bit more crowded.

With a 567cc, dual overhead cam, single cylinder engine, this ATV has managed to run with great energy. It is to be noted that the engine size is same as that of a single rider ATV. Therefore, many of the ATV enthusiasts were hesitant to actually accept the RZR 570. However, the power of the engine has really compelled to forget its size and have fun exploring the wilder angle of the ATV. The engine is mated to a good quality transmission system and a clutch system for keeping up with the rpms.

The air intake of this vehicle is placed high up on the body to avoid any kind of hassle even if you pass through mud or water. So, this feature of the UTV eliminates the fear of getting into trouble while passing through muddy trail and keeps you less worried about your engine getting dirt and debris. It has great tires like that of sports ATV tires to easily manoeuvre on toughest trails.

The 2012 Polaris RZR 570 is fun to ride and comes with a passenger grab bar to keep you calm during bumpy rides. So, getting behind the wheels of RZR is amazing when you need to make ways through narrow paths.
